Intellectual Property: You bought it, but do you own it?

You would think that if an invention, literary, dramatic, musical, artistic or other creative work is your idea and you are simply paying someone else to bring it to life that it will ultimately belong to you. Many companies and individuals make the mistake of assuming that because they have contracted with someone to provide them with code, software, a website, or a design or another form of creative work, that they will own the copyright to that work.
