A founding partner of Houser Henry, Robert (Bob) Henry helped to build our team of talented individuals and mentors us all to work collaboratively as we advocate for mid-market private companies, family owned enterprises and individuals.
How Robert serves our clients
For many years, Robert (Bob) has been a trusted advisor to many of our clients on corporate transactions, the purchase and sale of assets, employment agreements, commercial real estate transactions, and business succession planning. He also advises high net worth business owners on estate planning and administration.
With a gift for simplifying complex legal concepts for time-strapped business clients, he conveys only what people need to know in very accessible terms. The heritage of client care he established has become the DNA that drives the firm’s culture. As the deep relationships he forged endure, they remind us the importance of applying long-term thinking in everything we do.
Inspired by the courage and creativity of entrepreneurs, Bob is driven to successfully anticipate and solve their legal issues to empower them to grow and expand their businesses. He especially enjoys connecting people within his vast network. Throughout his career, Bob has built rewarding, life-long relationships with Canadian and European clients and has fostered the careers of young lawyers, including his son Michael, who succeeded him as our Managing Partner in 2010.
After earning a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Toronto, Bob entered law school and worked as a summer student at a predecessor firm to Houser Henry, where he learned from two of Canada’s top legal minds. After graduating from Osgoode Hall, Bob articled with our firm and has helped to shape it into a thriving and respected business law practice. Bob is a member of the Ontario Bar Association and the Law Society of Upper Canada, and an active fundraiser for several local charities.
A personal perspective
Nothing means more to Bob than time spent with his three children and their families, including his five grandchildren, who all live a short walk away. He loves watching his kids succeed and travels with them and their families whenever possible. Bob also enjoys British comedy, musical theatre, community involvement, and seeing the world.
